Interpol and Bloc Party to unite for 2026 co-headline UK and Europe tour
The post-punk heavyweights join forces for an 18-date arena run celebrating two decades of era-defining music
Two of the most influential guitar bands of the 21st century will unite as Interpol and Bloc Party announce a co-headline tour spanning 18 dates across the UK and Europe in late 2026. The run begins in Copenhagen on 10 November before taking in major cities including Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam, and reaching the UK on 20 November for a show at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena. It will continue through Cardiff, Sheffield, Dublin and Glasgow, alongside two-night stints in both Manchester and Brighton, culminating in a pair of closing performances at London’s Olympia on 4 and 5 December.
The tour will see both bands revisit highlights from across their 20-year careers – from Bloc Party’s urgent, era-defining debut Silent Alarm to Interpol’s brooding classic Antics. Having first toured the UK together in 2004 and shared stages again in Australia in 2023, the two acts now renew their creative partnership on a much larger scale, offering fans a rare chance to experience their most iconic work performed live in tandem.
Interpol’s busy 2026 schedule will also include performances at both weekends of Coachella, a South American run with dates in Peru and Bogotá, and a support slot for Deftones at Lollapalooza in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. The New York trio are also expected to release new music next year (their first since 2022’s The Other Side Of Make-Believe), further cementing their reputation as one of the defining post-punk revival bands of their generation.
Formed in New York at the turn of the millennium, Interpol’s cinematic, shadow-soaked sound quickly became a blueprint for a new wave of guitar music. Fronted by Paul Banks, the band’s debut Turn On The Bright Lights – crowned Pitchfork’s first ever album of the year – propelled them from cult favourites to global headliners. Seven studio albums later, Interpol have sold over 2.5 million records worldwide and graced stages from Madison Square Garden to Mexico City’s Zócalo.
Bloc Party, meanwhile, have spent two decades pushing the boundaries of British indie. Led by Kele Okereke, their early singles captured the jittery pulse of mid-2000s London before 2005’s Silent Alarm became a generation-defining debut. The band’s restlessly inventive follow-ups – including A Weekend In The City, Intimacy and Alpha Games – showcased a willingness to experiment far beyond their post-punk roots. In 2024, they marked Silent Alarm’s 20th anniversary with a sold-out show at Crystal Palace Park, performing to more than 25,000 fans, and were later honoured with the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection.
Now, as Interpol and Bloc Party prepare to share a stage once more, the tour promises to be a celebration of two bands whose influence has shaped the sound and spirit of modern alternative music – and whose chemistry remains as vital as ever.
