Grace Carter - Why Her Not Me

Grace Carter has been big into music from a very young age, writing songs all through her school days and performing her own material in public from the age of 14. She converted her bedroom into a makeshift studio, taught herself piano and attended music college. Even as a teenager it seemed as if a career in music was inevitable.

In 2017, a 19-year-old Grace grabbed all the right people’s attention with her stunning singing voice and heartfelt songs. The maturity she displayed musically was more than enough reason for the team behind Dua Lipa to sign her up, captivated by her emotionally exposed delivery, and her ability to connect with her fans. With a couple of high quality singles and a four-track EP titled Saving Grace released so far in her comparably short career, it’s clear that she is shaping up to be a songwriting powerhouse.

Grace cites Nina Simone and Ms Lauryn Hill as early influences, from what we’ve heard so far, Carter can draw you in with deeply meaningful and personal lyrics just like Simone and Hill.  When you couple this high-stakes approach to the writing and production process, with Grace’s naturally mesmerising voice, the result is certainly worth hearing.
