“I really wanted to capture the feeling of seeing your ex for the first time with someone new”, says FLETCHER of her brilliant new single “All Love”. “It’s a mix of butterflies, emptiness, your heart sinking and your stomach on fire all at the same time. At least that’s what it felt like for me. I hated the feeling, but pretended like it was all love”.
The track is the latest release from the much-heralded American music maker, who’s been tipped for superstardom by publications on both sides of the Atlantic.
Featuring brutally honest lyrics delivered powerfully over a laid back trap beat, the Malay (Frank Ocean, Lorde, Sam Smith) produced track references alcohol use to numb the effects of heartbreak and sees the artist pulling no punches, putting it all out there for everyone to see.
“All Love” is taken from her you ruined new york city for me EP. FLETCHER’s first proper release on Capitol Records (Sam Smith, Niall Horan, Katy Perry), the EP also features her debut single for the label, “Undrunk”, which has been streamed over 100 million times, receiving praise from Billboard and GQ who both named the track as one of the best songs of the year so far. Earlier this year FLETCHER also made her US television debut performing the track live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey – the town referenced in the title of Bruce Springsteen’s debut record – FLETCHER unveiled her debut solo single “War Paint” in 2015, released whilst studying at New York University’s prestigious Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music.
The song became a streaming sensation – topping Spotify’s viral chart on release – yet even with the success of her single the singer-songwriter put off signing to a major label at the time and instead returned to NYU to finish her studies. With well-received follow up releases and impressive stateside festival performances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Life is Beautiful and more, Capitol Records continued calling until she signed with the iconic label – home to Katy Perry, Niall Horan and Sam Smith – in 2018.
She made her UK debut in September 2019 with a sold out show at London’s The Garage (updated from The Courtyard Theatre due to demand), and her burgeoning career was recently given a further boost when it was announced that she’ll be joining Lewis Capaldi and Niall Horan on the former’s forthcoming Nice To Meet Ya US tour, taking to arenas throughout spring 2020.
With a huge online fanbase, a support slot on one of the biggest tours of the year, and a debut album in the works, 2020 is set up to be a huge year for FLETCHER.
