Interview: Kara Marni on making music to empower fans
The RnB singer-songwriter opens up backstage at The Great Escape Festival.
2019 has already been an exciting year for RnB singer-songwriter Kara Marni, who earlier in May joined Scottish hero Lewis Capaldi on the spotlight show line-up at Brighton’s The Great Escape Festival.
Ahead of taking to the stage, Kara stopped by the Ticketmaster New Music beach-hut to speak about her career to date and her passion for making music with a message.
The chat comes as she prepares for a handful of headline shows in October 2019, including a performance at London’s stunning Bush Hall, and celebrates the release of her acclaimed recent single Lose My Love.
Blending together the traditions of the genre with her enticing contemporary sound, Lose My Love is the second release from Kara Marni teasing a new project due later in the year around her headline shows.
The track has already been picked up by the likes of BBC 1 Xtra, selected as DJ Ace’s track of the week upon release.
To date, Kara has released her seven track EP Love Just Ain’t Enough in 2018, as well as single Move and a cover of Randy Crawford’s iconic You Might Need Somebody.
In our chat, Kara speaks of her passion for music, the importance of melody, and creating music to empower young girls and boys to be strong in the face of adversity.
Kara Marni hits the road later this year, with UK headline shows on the following dates:
15 October 2019 – Hare and Hounds, Birmingham
16 October 2019 – YES Basement, Manchester
17 October 2019 – Bush Hall, London
Tickets for Kara Marni in Birmingham, Manchester and London are available now through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
