Retelling the tale of the 1937 original, A Star Is Born follows the bubbling romance between jaded country star Jackson (Cooper) and an emerging young singer Ally (Lady Gaga).
Having first been shown at the Venice Film Festival at the end of August 2018, the film has already received rave reviews, with some tipping it for an Academy Award come 2019. Critics commend the chemistry between the leading stars, proclaiming it a worthwhile remake and a brilliant turn by fledgling director Cooper.

The film also stars Sam Elliot as Ally’s manager Bobby. There are also appearances by international singer Halsey and RuPaul’s Drag Race favourite Shangela.
Select music for the film has been provided by Lukas Nelson, son of country legend Willie Nelson, and Gaga herself receives a music credit.
