Van Morrison set to open Hull Venue

The legend will perform on Thursday 30 August 2018.

Van Morrison has been confirmed the open brand new venue, Hull Venue, later this summer.

The all-seated show will take place on Thursday 30 August 2018, with tickets available from 10:00 on Thursday 21 June.

Van Morrison is celebrating fifty years since the release of Astral Weeks in 1968. He’ll take to the new state-of-the-art music and events complex, with a capacity of up to 3,500 people.

Hull Venue is set to host a mixture of music, stand-up comedy, family shows and sporting events, boasting a brand new arena as well as redevelopment to the surrounding area.

Events already confirmed at Hull Venue include The League of Gentlemen, Jack White, Boy George & Culture Club, Madness, Rick Astley, Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals and Bill Bailey, with many more events to come.

Van Morrison formed the band Them in 1964 following years as a young travelling musician. They went on to create classics such as Gloria and Here Comes The Night. As a solo artist he then released the iconic Brown Eyed Girl, before moving towards jazz with his influential Astral Weeks album. His innovation and success continued throughout the following decades, until today.

His career has been celebrated with many accolades including a knighthood, a BRIT Award, a coveted Ivor Novello, six Grammy Awards, two honourary doctorates and entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This summer he’s set to appear at British Summer Time Hyde Park, before opening the brand new Hull Venue on Thursday 30 August 2018.
