Here are our picks for summer music festivals that all ages can enjoy together.
Organisers of TRNSMT have unveiled their second wave of artists for 2020’s festival.
For the fourth consecutive year, TRNSMT will take to Glasgow Green for three days of live music, from 10 – 12 July 2020.
The new names join headliners Lewis Capaldi, Liam Gallagher and Courteeners, alongside artists such as Ian Brown, Foals, Snow Patrol, Rita Ora, Sam Fender, Blossoms, Twin Atlantic, Aitch, Keane and Little Simz on the bill.
Leading the latest announcement are two UK hip hop stars: AJ Tracey, who recently celebrated a top-5 album with Ladbroke Grove and Loyle Carner, who headlines the King Tut’s Stage on Sunday night.
The BRIT-nominated Dermot Kennedy comes to Glasgow Green this summer as does hometown hero Amy Macdonald, who makes her TRNSMT debut.
Amy comments: “This will be my first TRNSMT and it’s amazing to be able to play a huge festival in the middle of my home town which has become such an important showcase for Scotland’s rich musical talent. I’m so excited to be back in front of the great Glasgow crowd and relish the challenge of proving just how much women can really rock on the big festival stage.”
Other artists confirmed to appear include The 1975 endorsed Beabadoobee, disco-pop maker Georgia, afrobeat star Yxng Bane, Arizona emo legends Jimmy Eat World, indie prince Declan McKenna, Irish punkers The Murder Capital, UK indie heroes Ash and more.
Lewis Capaldi will headline TRNSMT on the Sunday night. It caps off a remarkable few years that have seen him release his record breaking debut album, and reach the top of the stateside singles chart with UK No.1 Someone You Loved.
He’ll share headline duties across the weekend with British icon Liam Gallagher, bringing hits from his huge catalogue including anthemic Oasis tracks and cuts from his own illustrious solo career. Gallagher will headline the Saturday night at TRNSMT.
Both will follow an opening night headline appearance by Courteeners, celebrating the release of their latest album More. Again. Forever. Liam Fray and co will bring with them iconic hits such as Not Nineteen Forever, Are You In Love With A Notion?, and Lose Control.
“Yaaaaaas,” Lewis Capaldi celebrates. “I’ve been lucky enough to play TRNSMT every year since its inception and to be a headliner is absolutely wild. Things are about to get chubby and sexy, fast.”
The trio of headliners will be joined by huge names in indie, rock, rap and pop.
Foals will appear at TRNSMT following the release of their No.1 album, the Mercury Prize nominated Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2. Former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown will also make his TRNSMT debut following this year’s Ripples album release.
Having been forced to pull out in 2019, Snow Patrol will take to the festival in 2020 off the back of their recently unveiled Reworked project.
Pop arrives in full force courtesy of Rita Ora, for her very first time at TRNSMT, whilst Sam Fender will bring his massive indie melodies to Glasgow Green.
Blossoms will take to the Main Stage on the Friday, and Twin Atlantic will make their hometown return on the Saturday.
Other acts joining the bill include Keane, Ticketmaster New For 2020 pick and rising rap sensation Aitch, and the Mercury Prize nominated Little Simz.
Plenty more artists are still to be announced across the festival’s Main Stage, King Tut’s Stage, and the Queen Tut’s Stage.
