Stevie Wonder will headline Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park on Saturday 6 July 2019, joined by very special guest Lionel Richie.
The singer, songwriter, musician and producer tops the bill at the fifth standalone show to be announced in the concert series, taking to the iconic London park this July. He joins the previously announced Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Florence + The Machine and Robbie Williams.
With 49 top 40 singles to his name – including 32 No.1 hits – Stevie Wonder celebrates an illustrious career which has seen him collect 25 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe and a coveted Academy Award.
Receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Wonder boasts sales of over 100 million units including hitting the top of the charts at the age of 12 – the youngest ever – with Fingertips, Part 2.
Most recently he teamed up with international superstar Ariana Grande on Faith, taken from the Sing soundtrack.
His plethora of hits include the iconic I Just Called To Say I Love You, Part-Time Lover, You Are The Sunshine Of My Life and the classic Superstition.
Outside of music, Stevie has been instrumental in cementing Martin Luther King Day as a national holiday, as well as participating in the We Are The World fundraiser. He is the youngest recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors, and is a Commander of France’s National Order of Arts and Letters.
As an U.N. Messenger of Peace, he has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and continues his strong activism to this day.
Stevie Wonder will be joined by very special guest Lionel Richie when he takes to Great Oak Stage at BST Hyde Park on Saturday 6 July 2019.
Richie is one of only two songwriters ever to celebrate a No.1 record for nine consecutive years, selling over 100 million albums worldwide, and – like Wonder – holds multiple Grammy Award, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award.
Known for this early work with The Commodores as well as his incredibly strong solo career, Lionel Richie’s hits include Endless Love, Lady, All Night Long and Hello.
He recently toured his All The Hits, All Night Long Tour across the wold, selling out arenas and demonstrating a setlist full of his biggest anthems.
In the States, he can currently be seen judging on ABC’s American Idol panel.
