Sir Cliff Richard announces 2020 UK tour dates

The legend will hit the road next autumn.

Sir Cliff Richard has confirmed details of a forthcoming UK headline tour.

The new run of dates will see the icon take to the stage in Gateshead on Wednesday 23 September 2020, before heading to Glasgow, Blackpool, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield, Manchester, Bournemouth and Brighton, with the tour culminating with two shows at the Royal Albert Hall, London on 12-13 October 2020.

Entitled The Great 80 Tour, this new run of shows coincides with Sir Cliff’s 80th Birthday. The musician will hit the milestone on 14 October 2020.

Sir Cliff’s career spans over 60 years and he has achieved record-breaking success. He has sold more than 250 million records worldwide, claimed 67 UK Top 10 singles including 14 No.1s, won a number of awards including two Ivor Novello Awards and three BRIT Awards, and is the only singer to have had a No. 1 single over five consecutive decades in the UK.

He began his music career in 1958 as one of the biggest artists in British rock’n’roll before The Beatles. His first single, Move It, claimed the No.2 spot on the UK Singles Chart and is credited as being one of the first rock’n’roll songs produced outside of the US. His other hits include Some People, Living Doll, Please Don’t Tease, I Love You, The Young Ones and Summer Holiday.

He released his latest album Rise Up in 2018 with the record receiving rave reviews and debuting at No.4 on the Official UK Albums Chart.

Sir Cliff also represented the UK in the Eurovision song contest in 1968, where he lost out to Spain by only one point. Five years later, he represented the UK for a second time with his entry, Power to All Our Friends, coming third.

He also has appeared in several films, including The Young Ones and Summer Holiday.

The singer was knighted in 1995 and had the privilege of performing at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace in 2012. He currently splits his time between Barbados and Portugal when not on tour.
