Primal Scream announce 2019 UK tour
The band hit the road again this winter.
Legendary psychedelic rockers Primal Scream have confirmed a brand new UK headline tour.
The newly announced tour kicks off in Oxford on 19 November 2019, takes in a total of 19 shows and finishes on 17 December 2019 with a gig in the band’s hometown of Glasgow.
The special shows will be in celebration of the band’s recently released singles collection Maximum Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Out last month, the retrospective features 31 of the band’s biggest hits from their 35-year career.
Originally part of the burgeoning British indie pop landscape of the 1980s, Primal Scream’s career exploded when, inspired by the booming acid house scene in the UK, they began incorporating dance elements into their sound.
In 1991 the band released the album Screamadelica. The record was the band’s first commercial success, reaching No.8 on the Official UK Albums Chart. The record was also a hit with critics, taking home the inaugural Mercury Prize in 1992.
Released on Alan McGee’s Creation Records label, Screamadelica features the singles Come Together, Higher Than the Sun and Loaded.
Post Screamadelica, the band have gone on to release eight more studio albums, their latest Chaosmosis coming out in 2016.
Last month Primal Scream released their latest retrospective Maximum Rock ‘n’ Roll. Alongside tracks from Screamadelica, the compilation album features hit singles from the band’s career such as Come Together, Higher Than the Sun, Ivy Ivy Ivy, Country Girl, Kowalski and Rocks.
To celebrate the release, Primal Scream played two special warm-up shows in London and Brighton.
The band have now confirmed they’ll be hitting the road again, for an extended run of shows this winter.
