Playlist: Samoans share their essential tour van soundtrack

You don’t have to be in a band to know that choosing a car soundtrack can involve more eye-rolling than the TV remote wars on a Saturday night.

The Welsh foursome in Samoans are in a band, and they know all too well the importance of a good van playlist when on the road.

Here, the Cardiff rockers share the tracks they’ve been listening to during their 2015 headline tour.

Poseidon, Down I Go
Chris Rouse (drums) says: “The EP is amazing and this video is one of the best I’ve seen in ages.”

Courtney Barnett, Avant Gardener
Dan Barnett (vocals, guitar, piano) says: “I just can’t stop listening to her; the lyrics are so sharp and intelligent.”

Thursday, Signals Over The Air
Oli Miles (guitar) says: “A great song by a great band, and Geoff Rickly is one of the best dudes we know.”

My Vitriol, Nightcall
Calvin Ley (bass) says: “I’ve been waiting for the new My Vitriol album for so long, and though it’s only a cover, this track has done so well and was enough to tide me over for a while. Ps. We’re all still waiting, Som.”

Dean Friedman – 11 – Rocking Chair (It’s Gonna Be Alright)
All the band love it because: “It’s kind of a post-show ritual for us to listen to this song. Dean Friedman is a bit of a lost treasure, and even after the worst of shows this song can reassure you, ‘it’s gonna be ‘aaaallll right’.”
