News: Libertines announce more shows! On sale Friday 25 September
After smashing this year’s festival summer and hosting a small club tour earlier this month The Libertines announce they’ll be taking to more of the nation’s stages. Tickets go on sale 25 September at 09:00 so set your alarms and mark your calendars.
Here are the confirmed dates:
21 January – SSE Hydro, Glasgow
25 January – Capital FM Arena Nottingham
26 January – Cardiff Motorpoint Arena
27 January – Barclaycard Arena Birmingham
29 January – Bournemouth International Centre
30 January – The O2, London
The band recently released album Anthems For Doomed Youth, their first studio album in 11 years and have made it clear that they are no longer the old Libertines. There are new themes, new sounds but underneath it all old Libertines fans will still find themselves rediscovering the impressive songwriting skills of Pete and Carl in songs such as Gunga Din and Glasgow Coma Scale Blues. Critics were worried what the band would write about since the last three years have been mostly drug and scandal free for the Libertines, and all of them are fathers now. But there are still a lot of mental scars to work through and Doherty & Co do it beautifully on the new record. Anthems For Doomed Youth also includes a fan favourite, You’re My Waterloo, which was never recorded.
Tickets for The Libertines will go on sale next Friday at 09:00.
