This week we’ll be listening to Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Snoop Dogg and more.

It’s our favourite time of the week – New Music Friday is the new release fix you need to get your weekend started. This week we’ll be listening to Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Snoop Dogg and more.

What’s even better about New Music Friday is that you can listen to a lot of the new music live. We’ve also found artists who’ve got new records out and are about to take them on tour. Double win!

RELEASE OF THE WEEK: Linkin Park – One More Light

We kick off New Music Friday with Linkin Park’s seventh studio album One More Light. The American rock band take a whole new route with their new record. With clean pop tunes, the transformation from their breakthrough album Hybrid Theory is not as obscure as it may sound. The radio-ready tracks are well-crafted and feature guest vocals from Pusha T, Stormzy and more. Linkin Park are playing the UK this summer and we’ve a few tickets left on Ticketmaster.co.uk, and don’t forget to grab your copy of the album here.

Papa Roach – Crooked Teeth

American rock band Papa Roach are back with their ninth studio album. Crooked Teeth revisits some of the band’s rap-rock roots. In an interview, frontman Jacoby Shaddix recently said: “I think looking at the landscape of rock music right now, we just kind of felt like we were getting too much lumped into the pack. Not that we sound just like every other band, but we just felt like rock has become, for us, just a little bit homogenised. And we were, like, ‘All right, we need to break out of this box and do something different.” We say, give this one a spin, you won’t regret it. Grab your copy here.

Snoop Dogg – Neva Left

This one’s a true treat for Snoop Dogg fans. Neva Left is the rapper’s 15th studio album and features collaborations with Rick Ross, Method Man, Redman, Wiz Khalifa and more. He recently shared two new tracks off the record with Go On and Swivel. The album artwork features a throwback photo from legendary photographer Chi Modu that was taken back in 1993.

The Mountain Goats – Goths

New indie tunes come courtesy of California-based trio The Mountain Goats with their new record Goths. The band took a slightly different path on this project with no signature guitar strumming, instead they swapped it for saxophones, piano and woodwinds. There’s even a surprise appearance by the Bashville Symphony Chorus. Catch them live at London’s O2 Sheperd’s Bush Empire in October, tickets are available via Ticketmaster.co.uk. Grab your copy of the album here.

Dreamgirls – Original London Cast Recording

One of the West End’s newest smash hit musicals now has its very own soundtrack. Dreamgirls transports you to a revolutionary time in American music history and charts the tumultuous journey of a young female singing trio from Chicago called The Dreams. They learn the hard lesson that show business is as tough as it is fabulous. Dreamgirls features the classic songs And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going, I Am Changing, Listen and One Night Only. Treat yourself to see the show live with tickets available via Ticketmaster.co.uk.

Erasure – World Be Gone

English synth-pop duo Erasure have been going for over 30 years and have shared their 17th studio album World Be Gone with us today. The melodic tunes and plentiful beats give the album its iconic Erasure sound. Part summer romance anthems and part political commentary, the album brings out the best in Andy Bell’s voice. The band are also supporting entertainer Robbie Williams on his UK tour this summer. Grab your copy here.

Rascal Flatts – Back to Us

Ohio country trio Rascal Flatts return to their roots on their new record cleverly titled Back to Us. The 10-track record kicks off with lead single Yours If You Want It and offers catchy and memorable songs all the way through to the end. Grab your copy here.
