Our weekly round up of this week's biggest new tours, shows and events.
Bidding farewell to LeeFest, its organisers have now announced Neverworld; a new and exciting immersive experience for the Kent countryside next August.
It promises a kingdom of music, party and wonder, across three reals and 11 stages designed to encourage exploration and discovery.
The small festival (limited to 5,000 festival goers) will welcome 250 renowned and upcoming artists across the weekend. With 2017 hosting the final LeeFest, 2018 is the start of a new chapter for its creators and fans.
Neverworld festival goers will be encouraged to join one of three tribes – The Pirates, The Mermaids or The Lost Boys – before setting off on the adventure.
Previous events by the Neverworld organisers have gone on the boost careers by the likes of London Grammar, Bastille and Years & Years, winning awards for Best Grassroots Festival and Best Independent Festival. Neverworld promises to raise the bar higher, with music and mixed arts.
The Neverwoods will host some of the hottest emerging talent with venues The Fortress and The Circus, as well as a workshop and family programme in The Native Encampment. Mermaids Lagoon will offer garage, house and disco, featuring 100 tons of sand on The Beach and a 24-hour bar.
Skull Ridge will host The Goldmine; a disused converted mine. There will also be a punk and grime dive bar, and the Gentleman Starkeys Cabaret Club.
Of Neverworld, founder Lee Denny says: “The story of LeeFest and its origins in my back garden all those years ago was the seed for something incredible, but it’s time for the next chapter.”
“When we started this crazy adventure we did so by pushing personal boundaries and creating something awesome for our friends. However, now the story is much bigger than us. As the LeeFest community has snowballed, so have our ambitions. Instead of just a festival, we want to build a whole new world for our community to thrive in. A world that encourages growth and creativity. Discover your inner Pirate, Mermaid or Lost Boy. Welcome to Neverworld; a place you never have to grow old!”
Neverworld will take place from the 2 – 5 August 2018 with tickets available now.
