blink-182 basist and co-vocalist Mark Hoppus and All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth recently unveiled their collaborative project, Simple Creatures. Releasing their Strange Love debut earlier this year, and new track Special shortly before Download Festival, the pair took to the Avalanche Stage for a headline slot – their very first festival appearance.

Having already taken to Download Festival with All Time Low, Alex joins Mark on his first ever appearance on the coveted Donnington Park stages. Shortly before their headline set, the duo spoke about their love for the festival, the legacy of Download, and the fans reaction to their new wave venture. Watch the interview in full above.

Hoppus and Gaskarth revealed Simple Creatures at the start of 2019, the result of a friendship borne out of mutual respect following All Time Low joining blink-182 on tour. To date, the band have played two shows in the UK in addition to Download Festival, one of only two live appearances in Europe this summer.

Simple Creatures allows the pair the opportunity to explore their darker sides, pulling heavier lyrics into their atypical sound blending their punk legacy with synth-pop and electronic sounds.

As Mark Hoppus laughs that blink-182 should take to Donington to embrace their heavy metal side, Download Festival will return to Donington Park from 12 – 14 June 2020.
