Caught Live: Hot Natured @ The Roundhouse, London
The excitement was building. Finally, it was 12 December and it was Hot Natured Day for my friends and me.
The magic combination of Jamie Jones, Lee Foss (Hot Creations founders), Luca C and Ali Love makes up the Hot Natured line up who only played their first-ever gig together in April of this year. Heating up dance floors this summer with their blissed out melodies perfectly complemented with a deep house bassline, Hot Natured have been one of the most impressive dance acts to hit the scene in quite some time. Their music is simply sexy, it’s gorgeous.
Single Benediction has practically been the soundtrack of 2013 for many – it’s defined my summer hearing them play live at Glastonbury and Bestival as well as been on repeat at house parties, on holidays and even on the commute (it always somehow manages to bring a little bit of sunshine to the Northern line).
Announced as Mixmag’s act of the year, Hot Natured headlined last night’s Mixmag Live at the Camden Roundhouse. Easing the crowd into the bass was Moomin, a special one hour set from Jamie Jones himself and Richy Ahmed.
Kicking off with Different Sides, the staging, lighting and backdrop were immediately impressive. People were getting their bodies low and their hands in the air.
Bringing the gorgeous Anabel Englund onto the stage and getting straight into Reverse Skydiving the band took us all by surprise by extending the song to finish with the Shadow Child remix. Blitzing through their Different Sides of the Sun album tracks it all seemed to be going too quick. The only distraction from the magic of Ali Love’s voice was the band’s incredible light up Aztec shirts.
Hearing the familiar bassline start up and Ali’s call of ‘Feel it coming on…’ the crowd went crazy for finale, Benediction.
My only complaint – that it’s all over. Can we do it again, please?
