Metal Day: Here’s some live alternative highlights to look out for

With Metallica releasing their hotly anticipated Hardwired… To Self Destruct today, plus Anthrax tickets going on sale, and it being Johnny Christ of Avenged Sevenfold and Metallica’s Kirk Hammet’s birthday, we’ve declared 18 November 2016 Metal Day.

We’re playing fast and loose with the term “metal”, but that doesn’t stop today being one hell of a day in the alternative calendar. Over the course of today we’ll be dropping some exciting quizzes, news, playlists and more.

To kick us off, here’s some of the best and most exciting alternative tours heading our way over the coming months. And as always, check out our regularly updated Metal Guide for more.

For those about to rock, we salute you.

Download Festival
It wouldn’t be a metal/alternative guide without the behemoth of rock festivals, Download. Having already announced System Of A Down, Biffy Clyro and Aerosmith as headliners, the line-up is only set to get even stronger come the next announcement. We can’t wait. Tickets are on sale now.

Avenged Sevenfold
The mighty Avenged Sevenfold have been gaining some serious traction in the alternative world over the last few years, now leading them to huge arena shows across the UK. Kicking off on 10 January 2017, the band will take to Glasgow’s SEE Hyrdo. With their brilliant The Stage now out among the masses, this will be a sight to behold. Expect fire.
