Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong stars in leading role for over-the-hill punk rock movie Ordinary World

Today marks the release of Ordinary World, where Billie Joe Armstrong portrays a past-his-prime punk rocker struggling to come to terms with “real life” after his band’s indefinite hiatus.

The title track and movie title are both taken from Green Day’s latest record Revolution Radio, released 7 October. Ordinary World shows the story of Perry (Armstrong) as his wife (Selma Blair) and kids, who forget his 40th birthday and his brother (Chris Messina) gives him money to throw an old-school punk rock blowout in a Manhattan hotel.

Over the course of a single day, Perry’s punk past clashes with his middle-aged reality as he encounters crazy former bandmates, including best friend Gary (Fred Armisen), and he considers a crucial opportunity to jump-start his stalled music career.
