Gilles Peterson confirmed to launch Brighton’s Big Screen

Legendary DJ Gilles Peterson will headline Brighton’s Big Screen Beach Ball.

Former BBC Radio 1 and 6music DJ Gilles Peterson will headline a special event on Brighton beach front to launch Brighton’s Big Screen series.

Kicking off the jam-packed season, Peterson will be joined by his MC Earl Zinger on the 29 July 2017 for a day and evening of music on the beach. Other confirmed acts include Duke of York (DJ), Freak Power (live acid jazz) and Soul City (DJ Collective), with more to be announced soon.

The UK’s largest beach front cinema will then host screenings of live sport, blockbusters, classic and family movies.

Confirmed so far is a fitting showing of Quadrophenia on the 26 August 2017, one of the most iconic films based in the city. The film follows the famous rivalry in the 1960s between Mods and Rockers, which culminated in a series of battles in Brighton on the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The screening will be followed by live music by The Who’s Who, as well as DJ Drew Stanstall behind the decks.

Tickets for the launch on the 29 July 2017 are available now through our friends over at Universe.
