The BBC Radio 2 programme arrives at the London Palladium in November.
Beverley Knight, Tom Chapin and Peabo Bryson will each play one of three very special shows at the London Palladium, bringing BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night to the stage.
The world’s longest-running live orchestral radio programme will celebrate the life and legacy of Stevie Wonder, Queen and Barry White, with each of the performers taking on the iconic repertoires.
Joined on stage by a 24-piece orchestra, Tom Chaplin – famed as the frontman of British band Keane – will perform the songs of Queen. US soul sensation and multi-award winner Peabo Bryson will celebrate the work of Barry White, while British star Beverley Knight will perform the songs of Stevie Wonder.
All three concerts will be recorded for broadcast in January 2019.
Tom Chaplin performs the songs of Queen on Wednesday 7 November 2018; Peabo Bryson performs Barry White on Wednesday 21 November 2018, and Beverley Knight celebrates Stevie Wonder on Thursday 22 November 2018.
“To be given the opportunity to perform songs by Stevie Wonder, one of my lifelong idols, with an incredible 24-piece orchestra accompanying me, is a true honour and I’m counting down the days,” Knight announces.
Friday Night Is Music Night launched in 1953, televised for the very first time on BBC Four in 2005.
The BBC Radio 2 show blends orchestral music with a mixture of contemporary music, songs from musicals and films, opera and more. Each week delivers on a set theme, revealed on the night.
The forthcoming live shows at the London Palladium see performers take on the work of legendary icons. They join the previously announced event at Alexandra Palace Theatre on Tuesday 18 December.
The schedule for the newly announced shows is:
7 November 2018 – Tom Chaplin performs the songs of Queen
21 November 2018 – Peabo Bryson performs the songs of Barry White
22 November 2018 – Beverley Knight performs the songs of Stevie Wonder
