Frank Turner: ‘Back’ on the mend at Leeds Festival 2013

You can’t keep a good man down. Two weeks ago, having played through the pain for more than 30 shows, Frank Turner’s slipped disk finally gave up on him, forcing him to cancel festival appearances across Europe. However, having supported Green Day at their special O2 Brixton Academy gig last week, he and The Sleeping Souls made their triumphant return at Reading & Leeds Festivals this weekend.

Despite the heavens opening literally minutes before he hit the stage in Bramham Park, the (albeit wet) masses still gathered, clapped and sang along as Frank steamed through the hits, including: ‘Four Simple Words,’ ‘Long Live The Queen’, ‘Recovery’ and ‘The Road’. It seems you can’t keep a good crowd down either.

On the back of these shows (no pun intended) Frank has announced an arena tour for February 2014, which includes a mammoth date at The O2 Arena in London. This will be the culmination of a busy couple of years for the former Million Dead front-man and follows on from his sold-out show at Wembley Arena, his appearance at the Olympic Opening Ceremony and his most recent album Tape Deck Heart reaching Number 2 in the album charts.

Tickets for Frank Turner go on sale at 9am, Friday 30 August.
