Festival Guide: Virgin V Festival
Everything you need to know about the UK's pop, dance and urban extravaganza.
Gearing up for its 22nd outing, Virgin V Festival is set to take to Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in Shropshire on Saturday 19 August and Sunday 20 August 2017. This year’s event welcomes some of the biggest names in pop, dance and urban music, as well as a handful of surprises cementing its all-round appeal.
So get those tents ready, dust off that summer gear, and prepare yourself for a weekend of sheer fun. Here’s everything you need to know about Virgin V Festival 2017.
Who is headlining Virgin V Festival?
The all-important question. Just who is playing over the weekend in august? Headline duties will be taken on by none other than the reinvigorated king of rap Jay-Z (who recently welcomed back the hyphen to his name) and the absolutely fierce Pink.
Jay-Z will take on the main stage slot on the Saturday at Weston Park and the Sunday at Hylands Park, with Pink heading up the other.
The iconic rapper recently unveiled his highly anticipated 4:44, which is already being heralded as one of the best and most poignant releases of 2017. The unfiltered honesty on the record sees Jay discuss everything from black empowerment to asking for atonement for his infidelity. Virgin V Festival will offer the first opportunity for UK fans to hear some of the new tracks live, as well as celebrating the music mogul’s rich back-catalogue.
Check out one of his new tracks below (with explicit lyrics – you have been warned).
It’s been some time since Pink has graced the UK, bringing her often edgy stylised pop to the two fields for V Festival. With six records under her belt, fans will undoubtedly be swept up in a vibrant live performance, featuring massive hits such as Get The Party Started, So What, and Blow Me (One Last Kiss). She’s got tunes for days, and alongside fellow headliner Jay-Z, will be showcasing music mastery.
Who else is playing on the Virgin V Festival line-up?
As well as the headliners, the festival will also welcome some of the biggest names in music, both homegrown and from across the globe.
The main stage will host the likes of Craig David, Ellie Goulding, Jess Glynne, Stormzy, George Ezra, Emeli Sande, and loads more.
The second stage sees the likes of Rudimental, Pete Tong presents Ibiza Classics, Sean Paul, and Dizzee Rascal set to entertain the masses.
Fans of electronic music need look no further than the Dance Arena, topped by Steve Aoki and Gorgon City live, and joined by the likes of Galantis, Hannah Wants, Don Diablo, Example & DJ Wire, and more.
There’s also emerging talent on the V Street Stage, and a Glee Comedy Tent.
Those arriving on the Friday can also celebrate the start of the weekend with DJ sets by Chase and Status, Annie Mac, Duke Dumont and more in Weston Park, and Annie Mac, Wilkinson, Netsky and more at Hylands Park.
