Everything you need to know about Maxwell and Mary J Blige’s world tour
The king and queen of soul are hitting the road with a co-headline world tour – here are all the details
Kicking off this October, the aptly named the Kind And Queen Of Hearts Tour, will see superstars Mary J Blige and Maxwell unite as they tour the globe for an all-out soul-fest celebration.
The tour includes just three UK dates – including a headliner slot at BluesFest in partnership with American Express – so expect these tickets to be hot stuff.
What’s great about the tour is that it’s essentially two shows for the price of one, as both artists will perform a full set on the night. That’s right; The King And Queen Of Hearts Tour will be a double-bill featuring all the classics from both of these legendary performers.
It’s a really symbiotic show too, which has come about as a collaboration after the pair realised how much of a huge fan they were of each other’s In a recent interview with Complex Mag, Mary J Blige explained how they’d come up with the idea themselves, over four years ago.
“We really, really wanted to do this and it was something that had to happen. We would discuss it when we would see each other out at clubs. It was an idea of ours that needed to come to fruition.
“We’ve been going over this for the past four years now, which is a little while, but it is something we had to make them believe that we wanted to do. Now, they believe it and now it is happening!”
And fans hoping for a duet on tour? You might just be in luck, too! Maxwell told Complex that they’re “working on that”, and that “anything can happen.”
It sure sounds like something not to be missed.
