Edith Bowman reveals winner of Great British Music Festivals book competition

The results are in! Edith Bowman has chosen Bloodflower to play at her Great British Music Festivals book launch, in association with Ticketmaster’s Festie Guru.

Edith handpicked the unsigned Welsh band to perform alongside Lucy Rose at the exclusive party on 13 May, set to be held at a secret location in London.

The radio DJ and presenter listened to every act who entered the UK-wide search, before settling on Bloodflower: who she dubbed “brilliant and fresh” at the shortlisting stages. “I love the ’80s vibes and the vocals work so well with the beats; he has a touch of Matt Bellamy to him,” she added.

Now, Edith tells us: “First of all a huge thank you to everyone for taking the time to enter the competition. I have been overwhelmed by both the response but also the diversity and level of talent. It made for a very hard job in not only picking favourites and a winner.

“I not only took into consideration the talent but how also the winning act would fit into the night, being on stage with Lucy Rose and Keep Up. I’m so thrilled that Bloodflower are joining that line up, I love what I hear. Jonathan and Tom aka Bloodflower are making fantastic music that really stands out with fantastic melodies and a cracking voice. I can’t wait to hear them live.”

The lucky winners, Bloodflower, responded to the news, saying: “It’s humbling to be asked by Edith to play the launch of her new book about British festivals. We love the UK festival culture and the huge variety of festivals that are on offer for both punters and bands. It’s exciting to be a part of celebrating this.”

Meanwhile our resident Festie Guru says: “A huge congratulations to Bloodflower and many thanks to all the entries we received for the competition. We were bowled over with the amount of amazing talent, which is reflective of our incredible live music scene in the UK.

“We hope to see many of these acts on the path to festival enlightenment this summer, and we can’t wait to kick off festival season next week at Edith’s book launch.”
