Eagles announce two huge Wembley Stadium shows

Here's all the info fans need as the legendary band prepare to come to London in August 2020

American rock legends the Eagles will return to the UK next summer, bringing their Hotel California tour to Europe for the first time.

The band will take to the stage at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday 29 August and Sunday 30 August 2020 where they’ll be playing their seminal album Hotel California in its entirety, followed by a set of their greatest hits.

Hotel California is the third best-selling album in US history and has been certified 26 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA).

Released in the winter of 1976, the LP spawned the singles Life In The Fast Lane, New Kid In Town and the title track, Hotel California.

The band recently played three sold out performances of the iconic album in Las Vegas, the first time the Eagles have ever performed Hotel California in its entirety. The concerts featured 77 musicians on stage, including a 46-piece orchestra and 22-voice choir.

Billboard gave the concerts a rave review, stating: “The band performed the album from front to back, following with a blazing greatest hits set that had the audience at the sold-out arena constantly on its feet”.

Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1971, the Eagles have become one of the world’s best-selling bands in history and have sold 150 million records worldwide to date.

Since their formation they have racked up some impressive awards and achievements. They have scored five No.1 singles and six No.1 albums, as well as won six Grammy Awards and five American Music Awards. The band’s Greatest Hits 1971 – 1977 was certified as the best-selling album of all time by the RIAA, with sales of 38,000,000 copies.

The band first disbanded in July 1980, before reuniting again 14 years later for the album, Hell Freezes Over.  They relentlessly toured, made their way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and received Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

The band then took another break after the death of founding member Glenn Frey, unsure if they would ever perform again. However, in 2017, the three remaining members (Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmidt) began to tour again with Frey’s son Deacon and country star Vince Gill in place of Glenn Frey. Last summer, the band came to the UK for six shows including a sold out date at Wembley Stadium.

The Eagles will return to the UK in August 2020 performing Hotel California in its entirety in what will be their only European concerts of the year. Each show starts at 19:00.

Here are the dates:

29 August 2020 – Wembley Stadium, London
30 August 2020 – Wembley Stadium, London

Tickets to see Eagles live will be available from 9:00 on Saturday 14 December 2019 through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
