Having taken home the Best UK Breakthrough Band gong at this year’s Heavy Music Awards towards the end of the summer, British rockers Dream State took to The Pit at Reading Festival, previewing their forthcoming debut full-length Primrose Path.

Due for release on 18 October 2019 through UNFD, and produced by Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Babymetal, Bury Tomorrow), Primrose Path marks the band’s first album release, having turned heads with a handful of singles and last year’s Recovery EP, securing them Kerrang! Magazine’s Best British Newcomer award in 2018.

“I like to be real. I want people to feel connected. This is why music is not just a band for me or the boys, it’s a way of inspiring. I know how hard life can be,” vocalist CJ Gilpin said announcing the record. “That’s my thing… being real, open and honest, There’s so much power in that. I can’t be fake, that’s just not in me. I can’t put on a façade.”

As the band reveal backstage at Reading Festival 2019, the album delves into the human psyche – both the good and bad – and investigates how they can exist together. Watch the full interview, including details of their forthcoming headline UK run, above.
