Coldplay crowned Ticketmaster’s Ticket Of The Year 2016
We asked you to name your Ticket Of The Year, and you voted in droves. Now the results are in!
Coldplay have been crowned the global Ticket Of The Year 2016. Here in the UK, the band have hit the top spot in the vote for their spectacular show at London’s Wembley Arena. The megastars also celebrate fifth place for their performance at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, and seventh for their Hampden Park show in Glasgow.
“We’re honoured to receive the Ticketmaster Ticket of the Year award,” Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin enthuses. “Thank you to everyone who voted for us. The shows that we’ve played this year have been very special to us so it’s wonderful to know that they’ve been special to the fans as well.”
Coldplay sold over 1M tickets for their A Head Full Of Dreams tour, entertaining fans across the globe.
The UK’s top 10 is dominated by stadium appearances, festivals and homecoming shows. Download Festival sits comfortably at No.2, following headline performances by Rammstein, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Beyoncé‘s Wembley Stadium shows took third place, with The Stone Roses at No.4.
This year sees a threefold increase in stadium concerts on the final list. It also sees the NFL International Series lead the way for sport events at No.8.
