Chat: Dropkick Murphys on their new album and tour
On the verge of releasing their new album and heading on tour, we catch up with Celtic-punk veterans Dropkick Murphys for Ticketmaster Chat.
Dropkick Murphys are gearing up to release their ninth studio album, 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory on 6 January 2017. Continuing their ever-distinctive sound, the record marks a departure for their creative process. Rather than recording it in their beloved Boston, the six-piece holed themselves up in Texas to lay down the album’s 11 tracks.
The result is more concise than ever before, a clear product of concentrated creativity. It brilliantly marries their social commentary and their good-time vibe, something they guarantee to take on the road with them.
As they prepare for their European tour, which currently sees them arrive in the UK for a date at the O2 Academy Brixton on 27 January 2017, we caught up with the band’s Al Barr and Tim Brennan for Ticketmaster Chat.
UPDATE (26 April 2017): Dropkick Murphys have now confirmed four more UK shows for June 2017.
26 June – Rock City, Nottingham
27 June – Alhambra Theatre, Dunfermline
28 June – O2 Academy, Liverpool
29 June – O2 Academy, Bournemouth
