Walking up to the podium to accept her second BRIT Award of the evening, British Breakthrough Act, rising pop superstar Dua Lipa is accompanied by her little brother and sister. “I love you,” she proclaims in one of the most heartfelt moments of the glitzy ceremony. “At the bottom of my album,” she explains, “I thanked everyone and also told them to believe in magic because it’s real. This is the closest I’ve come to it, so I wanted them to experience it first hand.”
Earlier in the evening, Dua Lipa also walked away with the British Female Solo Artist Award, an opportunity she used to commend women who had come before her at the London based celebratory event. Receiving the award from the iconic Kylie Minogue and the ecstatic looking Millie Bobby Brown, she thanked “every single female that’s been on this stage before me.” In a humbling speech, she concluded: “Here’s to more women on these stages, more women winning awards, and more women taking over the world.”
Her rallying cry comes as the singer continues her epic rise, having broken into the UK Album Chart Top 5 with her self-titled debut last year, and delivered huge pop tracks Be The One and the No.1 smash New Rules. Earlier this year, she released IDGAF, again taken from her self-titled debut, propelling her back into the Top 10.
