BBC Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park confirms some huge names
Shania Twain will play the UK for the first time in 13 years.
Shania Twain will return to play the UK for the first time in 13 years at this year’s BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park event.
Billed as a special guest, Twain will be joined by massive names in music, including Take That, Blondie, James Blunt, Emeli Sande, Rick Astley, Seth Lakeman and Wildwood Kin, and Stereophonics.
The event will take place in London’s Hyde Park on the 10 September 2017.
Shania Twain told BBC Radio 2 Breakfast presenter Chris Evans that she “can’t wait”. “It’s been a long time. I’m so excited about it.”
It’ll mark her only live appearance in the UK this year, marking 20 years since the release of Come on Over, which included singles You’re Still the One and That Don’t Impress Me Much.
Take That, who recently performed as part of Ariana Grande’s benefit gig One Love Manchester, will top the bill.
Recalling an earlier conversation with Chris Evans, Gary Barlow stated that their return to Hyde Park was an obvious choice. “I know what this festival’s like, brilliant crowds, brilliant atmosphere,” he exclaimed. “So when we were asked by Radio 2, what do you think we were going to say? Yes is the answer, and we cannot wait to be there.”
The festival, launched in 2011, is partnered with Radio 3’s Proms In The Park, which takes place on the 9 September 2017. That day will welcome the likes of Steps, Texas, Gilbert O Sullivan, and musical theatre superstar Elaine Paige.
