All aboard HMS Bestival 2013!

I’ve become somewhat of a festival addict in 2013. I cannot get enough of the crowds of happy, dancing people, the loud sound systems and the faces covered in glitter. I know the season is coming to an end, but it’s not quite time to hang my wellies in the garage just yet, as there’s one more weekend to go – HMS Bestival 2013. Isle of Wight – here I come!

Yes, I’ve seen the forecast, I know it’s going to rain and I know I’m not going to be slathering on the SPF 50 as I was at Glastonbury in June, but my spirits have not been dampened. Oh no, people, I’ve got my sailors hat, I’ve got a whole roll of industrial strength bin bags to keep my belongings semi-dry and I’ve got a list of my favourite upcoming artists and DJs who will be performing. I’m good to go.

If you’re attending and fancy seeing something a bit different (I’m afraid I’m a dance music addict to the core, so this list is slightly biased) then maybe check these guys out. I’ll definitely be there with my wellies, glitter and my hands in the air.

Seth Troxler

Mr Troxler was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan (who even knew that was a real place?) and is one of the biggest house DJs out there. You may not have heard of him, but a lot of people in the know have; he is currently sitting at #1 on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJ list. Expect funky beats and deep grooves from an insanely talented man.

Ben Pearce

House music is definitely having a moment, and having had a hugely successful track ‘What I Might Do’ earlier this year, house DJ Ben Pearce is set for big things. Get in there quick so that you can say you were one of the first.

DJ Yoda and The Trans Siberian Marching Band

Yes, you did read that correctly. DJ Yoda is well known in the dance circuit and he has deservedly built up respect for playing very creative, entertaining live sets (he loves a good sample). However, Yoda has decided to mix things up (pardon the pun) now by introducing a full brass band to his live set. The show really has to be seen to be believed.

Hudson Mohawke

The Scottish-born electronic music producer/DJ has just signed to Kanye’s record label G.O.O.D Music. What more of an endorsement do you need?

Hot Natured Live

I’m not sure I can put into words how much I love Hot Natured. A fantastic grouping of Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Luca C and Ali Love (alongside vocals on a number of tracks from the unbelievably gorgeous Anabel Englund), Hot Natured really know how to put on a good live set. The Balearic-inspired chilled house will make you think that the sun is shining even if it’s not.
