As the UK settles into the current lockdown, it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom. To lift those spirits, the stars of South West Four Festival have delved into their own recordings to pull together the ultimate lockdown playlist.
Throughout the years, SW4 has consistently brought together some of the biggest and most promising artists from all corners of the electronic and hip-hop scenes, bringing one of the UK’s biggest parties to South London.
Check out the songs that the festival’s line-up have chosen to keep you busy during these uncertain times. From RAYE’s aptly titled Please Don’t Touch to a very special selection by stateside DJ and producer MK, here’s South West Four’s Ultimate Lockdown Playlist.
“This one’s a banger whether you’re indoor, outdoor or homegrown. It’s going to go off on Clapham Common.” – The Streets
“We released this song right before Carnaval, the biggest party in the world. The response we got from everyone and the energy at the shows was unreal whenever we played it. If you’re looking for something to get your energy up while staying safe at home, this is the song. See you soon SW4.” – Major Lazer
“It’s a track that is easy and vibey that will get people through these crazy times. It’s smooth enough if someone is looking to wind down, yet still upbeat if they need an afternoon pick me up to get them out of a quarantine rut.” – Kelis
“It’s probably one of the more mellow tracks on the playlist, but it’s a good song you can really chill out to while you’re at home.” – Hybrid Minds
“This one is – as the title suggests – all for you! If you sitting at home on lockdown or braving a walk in the park, turn it up, try and forget about the crazy times we are living in just for a few minutes and dream of the summer and getting back to Clapham Common for SW4. When we come out the other side of this mess… the parties are going to be next level.” – Wilkinson
“I’ve picked Desire which is one of my biggest records of recent times. It was great to collaborate with Sub Focus who is also playing at SW4 – you can really hear both of our signature styles in the track.” – Dimension
“Solar System has dominated clubs and festivals since its release last summer.” – Sub Focus
“It is one of those emotional songs that you can sing your heart out too but also dance until your hearts content! Hopefully it picks you up during the quarantine madness! The lyrics are also very fitting right now…! Can’t wait to see you all at SW4 my darlings!” – RAYE
“This is the song that really put me in the game! It’s self produced and nothing sounds like it till this day. It’s a classic.” – Dizzee Rascal
“Off the coldest winter ever to perfect whatever weather. The story reminds me of home but you could still listen cruising with the top down.” – Ms Banks
“This song gets the same reaction every time we perform it and we can’t wait to do it headlining our first festival in our home town.” – Krept & Konan
“We picked this for our stay at home track because we love what Maya did with our track she remixed. It’s laidback, vibey and perfect for chilling at home.” – Eli & Fur
“One Last Time is the best of both worlds, the energetic vibes from main stage progressive house and a true summer hit.” – Alesso
“Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode is a go-to for intense times. Thinking about how the words are so true and right for now. “All I ever wanted, all I ever needed is here in my arms.” As crazy as things are, I am home with friends and family and it is a good feeling. Psst, also gives everyone plenty of time to get healthy, work out and get ready for the summer, I can’t wait! Meanwhile, stay safe, we will get through this together!” – MK
