Yes, it’s true – we’re not making it up! Rachel Parris has revealed she’s going on tour in autumn. She’ll take her latest show, It’s Fun to Pretend, across the UK kicking off in Birmingham on 12 September and wrapping up in Cardiff on 30 September, with stops in Leeds, London, Newcastle and Glasgow, among many other cities.

As an actress and musician as well as a comedian, Parris is a versatile performer. Her shows tend to be packed with a clever mix of stand-up, songs and sketches that will leave you in fits of laughter. With It’s Fun to Pretend, she’ll be showcasing some of her best bits alongside brand new material that looks at the insane events of this year.

The Guardian calls Parris “endearingly frank and funny” while The Scotsman says she delivers “classy, clever comedy” that is “uproarious”.

Parris is a founding member Austentatious, a comedy troupe that puts on completely improvised plays in the style of Jane Austen. She has also appeared in Thronecast and on the BBC’s Murder in Successville.

Parris has been gaining a huge following thanks to her work on BBC Two’s The Mash Report, a satirical news show starring comedian Nish Kumar. Now in its second season, Parris appears as one of the correspondents and often takes a sideways swipe at society with sketches that put a spin on current events. Last month her video explaining what constitutes sexual harassment went viral. And in a recent episode, Parris gave some hilarious tips on how to make a public apology so “the next time you make a faux pas, like forgetting a birthday or assaulting a teenager, you’ll know exactly how to make amends”.
