Interview: Frank Skinner on his Showbiz tour

The comedian has just confirmed details of a forthcoming London residency.

Legendary comedian Frank Skinner is currently on tour with his brand new show Showbiz, thrilling audiences with stories from his life and 30 plus years in stand up.

Frank debuted the show with a sold out run at Edinburgh Fringe where he received rave reviews – “Skinner is a master of everything from storytelling to quick one-linersShockingly good stand-up” exclaimed Stephen Armstrong from The Sunday Times.

Edinburgh Fringe holds a special place in the comedian’s heart. Frank first began his career at the festival in 1987, spending £400 of his last £435 booking a room to perform in.

Undeterred, Skinner made a triumphant return to the festival four years later, where he beat fellow nominees Jack Dee and Eddie Izzard to take home the hugely prestigious The Perrier Award.

Since then, he has completed numerous stand up tours, selling out venues all across the UK. His last stand up show, 2014’s Man In A Suit, sold out a five week residency at London’s Leicester Square Theatre and was later released on DVD.

The comedian is also a hugely popular broadcaster and currently presents The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio, attracting over one million listeners per week. Frank first announced details of his Showbiz tour during a non stop ten hour broadcast of the show to celebrate his ten year anniversary at the station.

Due to the success of the Showbiz tour, the comic has confirmed that he’ll be bringing the show to London’s Garrick Theatre for a five week residency, running from 13 January 2020 – 15 February 2020.

In the interview above, Frank explains the origins of the hit show and gives fans a taste of what they can expect.
