Get ready for An Evening With David Sedaris
Join him for a reading and signing around the UK this summer.
Award-winning writer and comedian David Sedaris is touring his latest book of essays, Calypso, this July.
The NY Times best-selling author and named star of BBC Radio 4 series Meet David Sedaris will be embarking on an eleven-date UK tour for summer 2018.
Kicking off on 10 July 2018 in Cardiff, the tour supports his next literary release, Calypso – a brand new book of essays.
Additional tour dates include nights in Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, and more, plus three shows at London’s Cadogan Hall on 23, 24 and 25 July 2018.
With reoccurring themes of visits with family and friends at home in Sussex, and trips to his beach house in North Carolina, Sedaris takes us on a journey, as he delivers both poignant and hilarious memories in his latest collection of nonfiction stories.
Combining irony, wit and a bucket load of cultural euphemisms, humorist David Sedaris has become a true master of satire and self-depreciating anecdotes. As one of America’s favourite satirical writers he fills his works with comment on political correctness, social critiques and a hint of the dramatics.
With his on-point observations and witty comedy, he’s continued to grow in popularity, authoring many books over the decades including Barrel Fever in 1994 and Holidays on Ice in 1997.
Along with his sister Amy, under the moniker “The Talent Family”, Sedaris has also dabbled as a playwright. The duo’s plays include 1993’s Stump the Host, 1994’s Stitches, and The Little Frieda Mysteries in 1997. The pair also appeared as special guest judges on a Season 8 episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
Additionally, Sedaris has released numerous collections of personal essays, including the acclaimed Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls – which was nominated for a 2017 Grammy in the Best-Spoken Word Album category – and 2017’s Theft by Finding: Diaries (1977-2002).
The acclaimed writer, whose long list of published articles, books and audio-diaries continues to grow every year, is a regular to the UK touring circuit.
Join him this July for an evening of reading from his upcoming book Calypso, and a book signing.
