Lovebox 2016 confirm Major Lazer and LCD Soundsystem headliners
Lovebox festival, set in the heart of East London’s Victoria Park, has announced its 2016 headliners showcasing heroes both past and present – LCD Soundsystem and Major Lazer.
It’s hard not to be incredibly excited about the line-up – after LCD Soundsystem called it a day five years ago, fans didn’t think James Murphy would return so soon to the Lovebox main stage. Armed with a new record, this is no reunion but the next chapter for the band, or as Murphy put it, a “bus full of substitute teachers back from their coffee break with new music and the same weird gear.” But don’t worry; they’ll still play the hits when they headline Saturday night.
Friday’s headliner Major Lazer have been one of the biggest musical hits since LCD went on haitus. Diplo’s experimental, multi genre project, complete with cartoon frontman has become a cult favourite it its own right, shaping the sound of today’s pop charts. From Lean On – the most played song ever on Spotify and Powerful featuring chart topper Ellie Goulding, it’s no surprise that Major Lazer also received the most Shazams in 2015.
